FRIENDS OF JCPL
The Friends of the Library have six goals:
To encourage understanding and appreciation of the work of the library.
To build up greater realization of the importance of the library to the future development of the community.
To attract bequests and gifts of books, manuscripts, money and other appropriate materials beyond the resources of the library budget.
To serve as a medium through which Friends of the Library may become acquainted with and share their enthusiasm for books, cultural and educational activities.
To support the freedom to read as expressed in the American Association Bill of Rights.
To promote the development of library affiliated programs for various groups in the community, e.g. the elderly and children.
The Friends of the Jennings County Public Library is a volunteer organization. We are always accepting new members. The following are just a few of the activities which volunteers do:
Assist with used book sales
Deliver books to shut-ins
Hosts at library activities
Sponsor speakers for adult programs
Sponsor children’s programs
The Friends of the Library has done much over the years, including:
Providing special funds to the library to purchase equipment
Providing funds for the purchase of new books and materials
Carrying out bi-monthly book sales at the library
Establishing a scholarship program for library services
Free public programming
Each January the Friends of the Library have their membership drive, but we gladly take memberships year round. Membership forms can be printed out and sent in with a check or filled out at the library.
